On Thursday, police said they found broken items around his room, as well as the medication anxiety drug Clonazepam, a bottle of whiskey, a lighter and a cell phone and over-the-counter medicines.
While details surrounding the circumstances of his death remained unclear, Payne had spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and using alcohol to cope with the pressures of fame. Authorities will now conduct a post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death.
